Flaxseed

Nutrition:

The seed has many vitamins and minerals, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, the essential polyunsturated fat that may reduce risk of heart disease. It is grown in brown and golden varieties,
both have a nutty flavor; the golden type, often used in baked
goods, is a bit sweeter.

Benefits:

It is rich in fiber and lignans, hormones thought to inhibit breast and prostate cancers.

Avoid:

Flaxseed shouldn't be cooked, however, because heat destroys
its healthful properties.
